I am running Windows 10 at work and I have been very happy with it. I work in an environment where I am in charge of about 450 computers and over 1500 laptops. Most of the laptops are Chromebooks and therefore they run the Chrome operating system.
\n
From a management and cost effective standpoint, I wish we were 100% Chrome. That isn't really feasible though, so most of our computers are running Windows 10. Despite the recent issues with updates and things like that. It is a pretty smooth and fast operating system. I can install it on hardware that is several years old with 4GB of RAM and a Solid State Hard drive and it runs just as fast as a new computer in many cases.
\n
I also have a lab of computers that is running MAC OS. I am a pretty big fan of MAC OS. It has a clean look and feel and once you get used to it there are a lot of cool things it can do. I used to run a Macbook exclusively until I switched jobs.
\n
At home I have an older desktop and I am using as a media server and I am running Ubuntu desktop on it. It is super fast and powerful for being an older machine. The learning curve can be a little steep for Linux distributions, but they are making the GUI's much more intuitive now and adding point and click options for updating and things like that. It is much more reasonable now than it used to be to run Linux as the main operating system on your machine.
","appDepth":2,"appParentPermlink":"pk4d44dhx","appParentAuthor":"bjornb","musingAppId":"aU2p3C3a8N","musingAppVersion":"1.1","musingPostType":"answer"}" |

I have it as my main OS there and I find that there are less distractions for me, when I use it for work.
\n
It's far better suited as a developer environment as well, dependencies can usually be installed by entering a single command in the Terminal, while on Windows you'd have to install everything separately.
\n
I'm not a developer myself, but sometimes I do need to look at code, in order to review something for example. My Ubuntu machine is eprfect just for that.
\n
Now, when I clock off, I switch back to my Windows desktop. Then I can easily play some Heroes of the Storm, which isn't available on Linux. Okay, I might be able to get it running with Wine, but that would require too much time for me to set it up.
","appDepth":2,"appParentPermlink":"pk4d44dhx","appParentAuthor":"bjornb","musingAppId":"aU2p3C3a8N","musingAppVersion":"1.1","musingPostType":"answer"}" |

I use Linux systems on remote servers and my raspberry pi, but since Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop are only available for Windows and Mac natively, I don't use a Linux distribution as my main OS.

I occasionally use Windows for gaming and as a virtual machine in OSX to run software only avaliable for Windows, but having used Windows for years, I'm happy to no longer depend on this unstable system running on often unsuitable hardware..
","appDepth":2,"appParentPermlink":"pk4d44dhx","appParentAuthor":"bjornb","musingAppId":"aU2p3C3a8N","musingAppVersion":"1.1","musingPostType":"answer"}" |
