I've been in one once, I guess three years ago.
\n
I used to run on a regular bases and was out of town, visiting someone but didn't want to miss my training. It's always hard to choose a route at a place you don't know so I chose to run along the road. I know it's not the best choice but there was no alternative.
\n
At one point I had to pass an orchard and all of a sudden a very angry dog was in front of me, barking like crazy. I've learned to distinguish different type of barking, out of necessity and believe me, this was not a warm welcoming baking. I hat two choices. One, to confront him and try to scare him off, showing him I'm bigger and stronger, and two, to back off slowly without turning my back on him. I guess I had two seconds to decide what to do and chose the second option.
\n
I started to walk backwards very slowly and tried to speak to him very calmly. I was lucky, he didn't attack me, he was just protecting his territory and when I got far enough, he walked away. I'm always running with pulse control and when I looked at my watch, my pulse was at 180 or so.
\n
It wasn't a pleasant event, I won't wish that for anyone, but managed to get out safe and that's what it matters.
","appDepth":2,"appParentPermlink":"f3ccsaqkw","appParentAuthor":"tumpa1996","musingAppId":"aU2p3C3a8N","musingAppVersion":"1.1","musingPostType":"answer"}" |
