There are certain days in month that people do fasting and sometimes during festival seasons like Navaratri, Shivratri, and Karwa Chauth, Ashtami, the eighth day of the festival of Durga Puja are very well known festive season when you will see people in India fasting on those days of the festivals season. The fasting that we have here in India is not that difficult as we are allowed to eat once in a day and can also have water but some fast like Karwa Chauth does not allow you to have water as well throughout the day.</p>\n<p>I'll not get into the reasons of fasting and coming directly onto your question - What is dry fast/fasting. There are a two types of fasting </p>\n<p><strong>Dry fast & a Soft fast.</strong></p>\n<p><strong>Dry fasting</strong> - is also known as black fasting and is a kind of fasting that is done without food or water intake during the fasting period.
