That's because Steemit has been purposely abandoned by Steemit Inc. Steemit.com was never intended to be anything else but a minimum viable product anyone could use to interact with the blockchain. </p>\n<p>Steem (the blockchain) is an extremely versatile system. We have already seen dozens of applications make use of it in very innovative ways. For example, Steemhunt exists for people to get rewarded for finding cool products. Tasteem exists for restaurant reviews. DTube uses the Steem blockchain for rewards and organizing content and IPFS for storing the video files in a decentralized manner. There is a constant barrage of new apps being released. Have you heard of <a href=\"https://steemit.com/steem/@taskmaster4450/steem-vr-ar-is-coming-along-with-a-smt?sort=author_reputation\">DLux</a>? It stands for the words Decentralized Limitless User Experiences. It's a Steem-based virtual/augmented reality platform where people can share their VR/AR content. It is hard to say which Steem apps will go viral and mainstream but there will be thousands of apps each trying to cater to a specific niche. Google + is a good example of a great product that just wasn't able to overtake the giant that is Facebook. Google + had some really awesome features that should have been game changing to the social media landscape. Circles are the best example of that. Being able to post different things to the people I work with vs my family vs my friends is a huge deal. You might be able to do that now with Facebook, but not nearly as easily as it was with Google +.</p>\n<p>Second, Facebook and Steemit are really two very different products. There is no vehicle for interaction built into Steemit like there is for Facebook. Most of the interaction about Steemit takes place off of Steemit. It just makes more sense to have a conversation with someone in a Discord channel than to carry on a series of posts with them on Steemit.</p>\n<p>Finally, Iike I started with, it is just too difficult for the mass public to learn about public, private, and active keys. Users of Face book will move away and look for another site. there was talk that they were going to charge membership fees. If they do that then people will leave on mass.</p>\n<p>Steemit could open up an app similar to Face book and on board users offering tokens. I wouldn't be shocked if we have a new app on a Face book sort of theme coming and launching next year.</p>\n<p>There us so much that can work on the Steem block chain and if that happens Steemit could over time be much bigger than Face book.
