The technicality about 50/50 reward system is that we will have less liquid token produced from it as compared to 75/25 split. Further, as the curation reward is 50%, more investors, communities will be willing to invest and join the ecosystem and more curation will happen, means the good content can be properly & organically curated(which has been an issue in Steem community). Probably less organic curation was the reason to why Steem is going to implement 50:50 reward split.
