<p>Trying to find specific information on Steemit is not easy, especially for new users. Figuring out how to do even simple things can quickly become a daunting and time consuming task. Although Steemit.com's navigation problems are temporary, and will likely be solved within a few months, there is an immediate need to make information about Steemit available to new users in an easy-to-understand format.</p> 
<p>And as @sykochica brought up in a recent post, there is also an immediate need to develop a comprehensive <a href="https://steemit.com/ambassador/@sykochica/why-we-need-a-steemit-ambassadors-tool-kit-let-s-make-one">Steemit Ambassadors Tool Kit</a> that can be used to effectively explain all things Steemit at meetups and in various other kinds of grassroots marketing efforts.</p>

<p><h3>One approach to organizing a complex network of ideas into something that is easy to make sense of at a glance is to create a "<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mind_map">mind map</a>".</h3></p>
<p>By associating webpage urls with nodes on a mind map, it is easy to outline a subject, show how its ideas are connected, and make these connected ideas accessible.</p>
<p>My favorite software for mind mapping is <a href="https://www.yworks.com/products/yed">yEd Graph by yWorks</a>. This software is free for personal use and is very powerful.</p>

<p><h3>By creating an <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image_map">html image map</a> using <code>< map ></code> tags, it is relatively simple to associate all the nodes on a mind map with links.</h3></p>
<p>Hover effects can be added to provide additional information describing each link. yEd Graph can automate this process, as can a variety of free online tools. Unfortunately, the Steemit post editor does not allow me to share the html + css + js code that transforms my Steemit posts mind map into an intuitive navigation tool.</p>

<p>(Due to a conflict with my art blog's page template, the link descriptions that appear on mouseover at the above image map have a screwy offset that I don't have time to troubleshoot today. But (hopefully) you get the idea. )</p>
<p>As you can imagine, a hyperlinked mind map could go a long way towards solving the current navigation problems we face - at least until something better comes along.</p>
