| body | "There are a lot of rooftop bars here in Da Nang. Since all of the rooftops have something going on up there anyway many places have decided to install a bar as well. I will say this, most of them fail. The one on top of every building that anyone I know lives in is now, and has been closed for a while. There simply aren't enough customers to go around.
Well there was one that we can see in the distance from our own balconies in our condo that we figured we would give a try to just because we can see the lights from our joint and the building is taller than our own. We went by and were not disappointed by the view and the prices for drinks were not outrageous either.

Throughout these pics you'll have to forgive my $100 dollar phone's camera. It does the best it can.
When we went into the rather majestic lobby of this new hotel called "Draco" we weren't entirely sure they were going to let us in the place because we were all dressed in T-shirts and flip flops for the most part. They didn't have a problem with it when we got into the elevators and when we got to the top we found out why. There was no one here except for one couple in the pool and they probably weren't very pleased about our presence.

This place had pretty fantastic views in ever direction and most of them were unobstructed. This is another element of living in Da Nang that has to be a bit scary even as a property owner. There are a ton of buildings around here that USED TO HAVE unobstructed views but as soon as someone decides to build in front of you, you are now obstructed. This seems to have been going on for a long time.
In the case of Draco, they are only a couple of stories taller than the buildings around them so it is only a matter of time before someone does the same thing to them.

It was night time so it is tough to tell but there is a beach over there. Given the size of this hotel I feel as though their pool is kind of really small. I would be a bit displeased about this if I had paid to stay there. I would bet that they have used some sort of fish-eye lens in their advertising to make it appear as though it is much larger than it actually is.

For myself and my friends this is something that we normally wouldn't do. We are not very adventurous but one guy whose last night it was in the country said that he always wanted to try out that place but never did. We got it done and honestly, while it was nice I can't really say there is much reason to go rushing back there. Views are great and all but once you've seen them it's kind of over isn't it?
Well, we had a good time and I am glad we went. I don't have a great recollection of what the drinks cost but I don't think it was very much so if you are ever walking by a place called Draco that is advertising their rooftop bar go ahead and go up there for one or two. You'll get bored at that point and want to come down after anyway." |
