It is no secret to anyone that establishing a bitcoin mine is a process that involves a high electrical consumption that, besides representing a very high cost, also represents a considerable damage to the environment.
Bram Cohen seeks to amend that problem and that's why he invented a new company called Chia Network, which will launch a cryptocurrency based on mine and storage times. Chia is expected to promote what is storage in the free spaces of hard drives.
The purpose is to be able to achieve a bitcoin that is better, in order to reduce the problems of centralization. From Bram's point of view, the two biggest drawbacks of bitcoins are the impact on the environment that entails mining them, and the instability that comes from those miners who seek economic ways to access electricity services.
Bram Cohen is an American computer programmer, better known as the author of peer-to-peer (P2P) BitTorrent protocol, as well as the first program to use the protocol, known as BitTorrent. He is also the co-founder of CodeCon, co-author of Codeville, and organizer of the P2P-hacker meeting in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Cohen was one of the creators of torrenting in the early 2000s and worked with Steam for a while. Thanks to BitTorrent Cohen was able to build a new protocol for what is the transfer of content through peer-to-peer.
Chia will work directly evaluating what space is available in the file storage base that users can have and use without additional costs. To achieve the calculation of the available storage space, Chia combines what is the downtime with a series of tests to corroborate the amount of space available." |
