Hello! I had just finished watching the movie that was trending on Netflix and twitter, 'Tinder Swindler' and I could definitely relate. Love makes you do crazy things, really. In my case, there weren't exactly private jets and expensive dates; mine showered me with luxury type gifts and weekends in expensive hotels. We'll call him Mr. F for the sake of this article.

If anyone had told me that I'd sell anything for a man, I'd have smacked the person on the head and tell them to say my name. Akwaugo, that's my name. Igbo girls get spent on, not the other way around. Mr F "mistakenly" ran into me at a mall on a beautiful Wednesday afternoon and by Friday the next week, I was his girlfriend. Love me an intentional man who knows what he wants.
I'd get breakfast, lunch and dinner delivered to me everyday for the next month and every weekend, we'd lodge in the most expensive hotel in the city (name withheld). Everytime I tried to bring up the spending, he'd tell me not to worry. Mr F told me he worked for an oil company and didn't need me to tell him how to take care of me. He always wore designer items too like Simon leviv in the Netflix movie and he made sure to gift me luxury brands also.
My birth month came and by this time, we'd been dating for two months already. Mr F decided that I should lodge in our hotel for the month so that I could be taken care of. I ran up an estimate in my head and it came to about 6 million naira, I drew him close to me on the bed that evening and said I'd rather have the cash than spend that much staying in a hotel. When I'm not homeless. Mr F declined, told me not to fret about funds and be a baby girl. He had taken care of me this past months, I had nothing to worry about.

Long story short, I sold the land my brother inherited from our late dad and send Mr F, 20 million naira. That was the last time I heard from him and I spent my birthday in a cell. I'd spent my savings and that of my friends on the hotel and I was still owing.
