title"My Nephew, A Future Casey Neistat?"
body"## It’s Been A Strange Summer ##
Summer always ends too soon in this part of the world. Our small window of what most would consider proper summer hits its halfway point around the 4th of July. When October rolls around it’s time to start thinking about getting out the jackets and sweaters. This year summer seems even more abbreviated.

Between the dense smoke that descended on us from the Canadian wildfires and the lack of rain the leaves are already beginning to turn colors and leap to their demise. This is the earliest I remember this happening, ever. I can’t help but wonder if climate change is even worse than we’re being told?

My nephew Ryan recently started his own YouTube channel called [Ryan’s Random Adventures.](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCc133YYJplcQuE7ekRv-VKA) For now he’s just learning the basics and getting comfortable on camera talking about his favorite subject, [Bey Blades](https://beyblade.hasbro.com/en-us).
I know I’m biased but this kid is wicked smart, like an old soul in a child's body, and I wouldn’t put it past him to develop this channel into something really special. Ryan would be super-psyched if you would hit the subscribe button and join him on his journey. Ryan, I can’t wait to see where you take this. Love you, buddy!

One of my best friends in the world, Juan Parker (@luckyfellow), and I have worked to build our creative careers in tandem over the past twenty years. We’ve both mourned our losses and toasted each other's triumphs over weekly lunches and an annual “buddy trip” for over two decades.

Probably the biggest thing the two of us have in common is we are just too stubborn to give up. In these past few years it’s been paying off in a big way for him. I want to congratulate Juan for all of the recent accomplishments.

If you’re in the Twin Cities you can find his work in a gift shop called [Corazon](https://shop.corazononline.com) on Lake Street in Minneapolis. Congrats brother, you’ve paid your dues and you deserve every success that comes your way.

## New Novel Update ##

![](https://media.giphy.com/media/jRlUcHEPNNyQvgvurb/giphy.gif)

The new novel Asylum (or Outlier) is coming along wonderfully but it’s leaving me with very little headspace to do much else creatively. At this stage I’m just taking notes, developing each of the characters, getting to know who they are and what makes them tick, and building the world. With this book I decided I’m going to let the ideas simmer and develop naturally and I hope it will pay off.
In the meantime, I’m dealing with a MacBook that’s working against me. It's developed an uncooperative “V” key. Sometimes it doesn’t work at all, other times it types a long series of “Vs” on its own. Vvvveryv frustrating to say the least.
Amazon will be delivering a can of compressed air tomorrow and I’m hoping that fixes it, if not it’s going to have to go to the Apple Store asap. There’s nothing worse than not having the tools you need for the job.
All for now.

With Gratitude,

Eric Vance Walton

Poetry should move us, it should change us, it should glitch our brains, shift our moods to another frequency. Poetry should evoke feelings of melancholy, whimsy, it should remind us what it feels like to be in love, or cause us to think about something in a completely different way. I view poetry, and all art really, as a temporary and fragile bridge between our world and a more pure and refined one. This is a world we could bring into creation if enough of us believed in it. This book is ephemera, destined to end up forgotten, lingering on some dusty shelf or tucked away in a dark attic. Yet the words, they will live on in memory. I hope these words become a part of you, bubble up into your memory when you least expect them to and make you feel a little more alive.

Most of us have experienced a moment of perfect peace at least once in our lives. In these moments we lose ourselves and feel connected to everything. I call these mindful moments. Words can’t describe how complete they make us feel.
These moments are usually fragile, evaporating in seconds. What if there was a way to train your mind to experience more of them? It’s deceptively easy and requires nothing more than a subtle shift in mindset. My new book, [Mindful Moments](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08PJPWK2W/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1), will teach you to be much more content despite the chaos and imperfect circumstances continuing to unfold around you. Upgrade your life experience today for only $15.99 on Amazon.com.
