## So there "I" **(ie. @twiceuponatime, @onceuponatime's worldly-wise alter ego)** was, a few days back, laying on my massage therapist's table. *.......... image pixabay.com ..........* ## She was kneading my sorely abused body's stiff muscles **(14 or more hours a day sitting in front of computer screens - geez, the things I do to myself!)** as we conversed upon topics that kept popping into my head from who knows where or why. .......14 hours x 7 days (Please excuse the mess - **I wasn't expecting company**).............. You get the idea. With the masseuse digging her fingers into my muscles I'm starting to feel open enough and vulnerable enough anyway so that letting her know the crazy thoughts cruising around in my brain was no biggee. ## Is it possible that certain things, completely contradictory from limited human perspectives, can be simultaneously true? ***Like: if (A, not B and if B, not A) but (A and B) too, at the same time, sort of stuff.*** Methinks logic is too limited and specialized a tool to be useful in just any, and all, investigations. **A hammer,** fine for banging on nails and things, **may not prove so useful for cutting your toenails** (as one very poignant example, lol). Sometimes I have to struggle to simultaneously hold contradictory theories or views and sometimes it comes more easily. **"I believe it is a particle"** AND **"I believe it is a wave".** Worse still, *I believe in re-incarnation* **AND** *I believe we have just one life* (let's not even go into Nietzschean type theories of eternal recurrence or look into Ouspensky's idea that once we awaken somewhat we have only a limited number of lives left in which to **make an escape from mechanical recurrence.** ## So, I start asking my massage therapist, Lana, (the poor lady is just trying to do her job and make it through the day, lol) if she thinks it possible that some of the tensions or clenchings in her patients' bodies aren't really from stresses or injuries in this life at all, but might actually be manifesting trauma endured in previous lives. **She, of course, wants to humor me so that we can make it through the session.** So she says "well, I think that someone might have an injury from the birth experience because of being pulled out by the arm or leg with forceps by the doctor". But, being me, I'm not going to let her off the hook so easily. I say: "Do you remember when we were taught in high school history classes that the rebels against the King's authority were **'hung, drawn, and quartered'** as their punishment? But we paid no attention, just like with all the rest of the boring texts. **Did you ever wonder since what being "hung, drawn, and quartered might have entailed?"** She allowed as to how she had not really ever thought about it. ## Wow! Do you think that there is any chance in hell that I am going to miss this opportunity to enlighten her? lol *"To be hanged, drawn and quartered was a punishment in England used for men found guilty of high treason.* *The full punishment was made up of the following - the victim was: 1.Dragged, usually by a horse, on a wooden frame to the place where he was to be publicly put to death. This is one possible meaning of drawn.[1] A more likely meaning of drawn is the removal of the inner organs.[2] 2.Hanged by the neck for a short time or until almost dead (hanged). 3.Removed from hanging and placed on a table. Still alive, the victim was cut open in the abdomen and his intestines and sex organs removed (this is another meaning of drawnβsee the reference to the Oxford English Dictionary below). The removed organs were burned in a flame, prepared close to the prisoner.[3] 4.The victim's head was cut off, and the rest of the body hacked into four parts or quarters (quartered).* *Typically, the five body parts (i.e. the four quarters of the body and the head) would be put on public display in different parts of the city, town, or - in more famous cases such as that of William Wallace - in the country, to discourage would-be traitors who had not seen the execution."* From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia **And that's just the plain vanilla version. There were interesting variations for some "freedom fighters?" particularly disliked by the powers that were (and remain?).** Are you listening, my fellow **"The Revolution will not be Centralized"** afficianados? *The execution of Guy Fawkes' (Guy Fawkes), by Claes (Nicolaes) Jansz Visscher, given to the National Portrait Gallery, London in 1916* ## Now the reason that I was bringing this up with Lana was not to shock her or knock her off her therapy game (hoping to get a discount maybe?) but to introduce the point that someone experiencing that level of trauma at the time of death might readily be expected to carry over highly charged emotional energies to their next life were re-incarnation a reality. And might not that manifest as tension/afflictions in the new corporeal body? ## I guess that where I was taking this with her, were I to find her open to such ideas, was to tell her about a psychic wound that I have carried with me in this incarnation. That is the terminology I use for myself - it certainly isn't going to work for everybody, or even me sometimes when I am looking at things from a "one life" perspective. **Fortunately for her,** lol, our session for that day was over. She has to sit Board exams soon to get accreditation for this province, having recently moved here. God help her if some of my nonsense were to slip in to her exam responses! **Bureaucrats can be so very narrow minded.** ## I guess I will end this post here. I can carry on with this discussion of previous lives, psychic wounds, therapy, rebellions and revolutions, energies, revenge or forgiveness, etc. etc. etc. should it be of interest to anyone. **And it does not upset @onceupontime too much for me to be discussing our inner life lol.** ### So upvote if you would like Report from the Bleeding Edge ( Part Four) to carry on with this theme.

I strongly believe the so-called "psychic wound" as you call it are a definite part of our psychic body as we sometimes finds our way back to our human form and, as we do so, carry marks of it throughout the body as well as our memories, desires and so on. Tibetans believe, for instance, that some of the birth marks are carried over from the last passing over leaving a mark as to where your consciousness came out of. I have had this intuition telling me about such things when I came across a book reporting on this matter and, since then, have been compelled to look into it a bit further more. The thoughts around the idea have congealed into a much broader spectrum and make a lot of sense to me in the context of what I consider to be reality. The question must have been quite interesting to her as it is often shared within massage therapy that there is in deed emotional recurrence of trauma appearing one's body, even if the person wasn't per say physically hurt. Thanks again for the sharing of thoughts, humours and stories. It has been a pleasure to read and share with you, as always. Namaste :)

Creepy, but a reality of our past. Re: "I believe it is a particle" AND "I believe it is a wave". - Have you looked into the Tech Singularity or Simulation Theory yet? Interesting stuff, especially if you're into software.

I guess I am intimating that I carry the past with me :-) I'm not sure, is that Ray Kurzwells's stuff, or something different?

yep Kurzweil is helping to plant that seed. i think it's a highly plausible scenario.

I love your bleeding edge series, I have to think about what you've written for a very long time afterwards though. That is a good thing! I read somewhere that the aim of unifying theory is to converge the results of particle behaviour with wave behaviour. It makes sense in that particles simply abstract the behaviour of waves such that the results when viewed from an even higher projection yield the same. Also, since everything is just a superposition of all probabilities (sum of all probabilities = 1 for mutually exclusive events) then the reasoning that contradictory events can indeed simultaneously be true, hold true. Of course, it's difficult to capture the full extent of logic with just basic primitives and logical operators, so statements like > I believe in reincarnation AND I believe we only have one life Will be hard to *rationalise*. Perhaps humans in the future will have better logical frameworks (and more advanced language) that allow us to rationalise with natural language such situations and not conclude with contradiction.

Certainly one of the hindrances to communication, and even to rational thought, is the paucity of our languages. There is no way to really know if you and I are using a word to convey the same meaning - beyond quite mundane matters and given our ordinary languages. I have heard that there are traditions within which much more refined and exact languages have been developed thus making communication (and thinking) more exact undertakings. Probably akin to the symbols used by mathematicians or physicists, there may exist language and symbols for students of consciousness.
