I've been busy digging for "gold". #13

So while you lot are busy mining cryptos, I've been mining a precious commodity of my own. And yes I know bitcoin is over the $4000 mark, but could you eat it if there were a global problem from hacking. Hacking you say?? But open source blockchain is unhackable... Fair point, but is the power grid or Internet providers? Once they go, good luck getting access and selling then.

You guessed it, I've been digging up my main crop of potatoes and no that's not me, that's my 21mnth old son. So yes I was saying, while cryptos offer massive returns(enough to buy thousands of spuds) in reality they are still just made up, thin air, a promise to pay.....

And yes if given the chance "TODAY" I would chose a bitcoin if offered over a bag of potatoes but today is like every other day. Shops are open, the banks let me take my currency out and the supermarket shelves are stocked full. If(sorry when) hyperinflation kicks in I'd struggle to feed my family on a plate of crypto currency.

I'm still on the fence with cryptos but do feel they will have their time to shine after the death of the dollar but for me I'm sticking to precious metals and my veg patch, two tangible assets that could well become a tradable commodity in the not too distant future.

Good point, I think having tangible assets are the y way to go. And I see nothing wrong with making money using cryptos in the mean time and using the profits to buy tangible gold and silver.

That's exactly my point. I hope people don't think I'm criticising cryptos but I'm still all in for precious metals. I may dip my toe in the crypto pool but I've missed the bitcoin/lite coin ship they are to expensive for me now

I would highly recommend. Bought then in pound stretcher end of summer sale last year. 99p for 6 bags. Then bought 6 bags of cheap compost from Aldi and just topped them up as they grew. Saved on a lot of space as we only bought the house last year and I haven't had time to finish the garden yet.

That's a great way to have a planting box in those bags. I'm totally with you man, We have a good crops of tomatoes here and slowly trying to live more sustainable.

Do you mean the spud bags or the bag I'm tipping the spuds out in to? Cause the bag I'm using to catch the earth and spuds is an old bbq cover and it works great. I'm not a lover of tomatoes but the Mrs loves them. I grow about 8 to 10 plants, usually 3 different varieties. At the end of the season, what ever is left I use to make a lovely tasting chutney. If made correctly can be stored to last till Christmas, so it's great for the cheese board and party nibbles.
